Malaysia Airlines flight compensation

Malaysia Airlines flight from Europe delayed, cancelled or overbooked? Compensation of up to €600

Malaysia Airlines serves South-East Asia and Oceania via its Kuala Lumpur hub, and is a member of Oneworld. Important: as Malaysia Airlines is not an EU carrier, Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 only covers Malaysia Airlines flights departing from an airport in the EU or the United Kingdom (for example Paris or London to Kuala Lumpur). A flight arriving in the EU from a non-EU country is not covered. VolClaim checks the direction of your flight and your eligibility free of charge, then handles your entire claim. You pay nothing upfront, and you only pay if we obtain your compensation.

Frequently asked questions about Malaysia Airlines claims

Does a delayed Malaysia Airlines flight always entitle you to compensation?

No, not always. Malaysia Airlines is not an EU carrier. Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 applies to your Malaysia Airlines flight only if it takes off from an airport in the EU (or in the United Kingdom for UK261) — for example Paris-Dubai. A flight operated by Malaysia Airlines arriving in the EU from a non-EU country, such as Dubai-Paris, is however not covered by this regulation. VolClaim checks the exact direction of your flight before confirming your eligibility.

Can Malaysia Airlines refuse to pay compensation?

Malaysia Airlines may invoke an extraordinary circumstance (extreme weather, air traffic control strike, security risk) to refuse payment on an otherwise eligible flight. For the claims entrusted to us, VolClaim checks whether this ground is genuinely justified before challenging the airline's response.

How does VolClaim contact Malaysia Airlines about my claim?

VolClaim submits your claim via the official form of the AskMH portal on malaysiaairlines.com, never via a generic or guessed email address, which limits lost claims and speeds up processing.

How do I make a claim against Malaysia Airlines for a delayed or cancelled flight?

The simplest way is to entrust your claim to us from the start: VolClaim checks the eligibility of your Malaysia Airlines flight free of charge, prepares the claim with the relevant documents, files it through the airline's official channel and follows it up until payment. No upfront costs: 25% incl. VAT only if successful. If court action becomes necessary, our total fee is capped at 50% incl. VAT. It covers all procedural costs (court fees, lawyer, judicial officer), which we advance and bear. If the proceedings fail, you pay nothing. Procedural costs awarded against the airline (legal costs, Article 700 of the French Code of Civil Procedure) are retained by us.

Malaysia Airlines refund or compensation: what is the difference?

The refund corresponds to the price of the unused ticket: it is owed if the flight is cancelled, or if you give up travelling after a delay of 5 hours or more. Compensation is a fixed amount of €250 to €600 depending on the distance, owed in the event of a late cancellation, a delay of 3 hours or more on arrival or denied boarding, unless an extraordinary circumstance applies. In the event of a cancellation, the two can be combined. Read our refund or compensation guide.
